Changes Announced to Museum Adventure Pass Program

Thursday, September 22, 2011

After four years, the Museum Adventure Pass is taking a break. The program that allows library patrons no-cost access to some of the area’s most interesting cultural spots through their local libraries is coming to an end as of September 23. That will be the last day that patrons can check out a pass on their library card. Museums will accept the passes through September 30.

Thanks to the generous support of program sponsor Macy’s, as well as the collaboration of partners The Library Network, Cultural Alliance of Southeast Michigan, and Library of Michigan Foundation, a total of nearly 300,000 passes to metropolitan Detroit cultural attractions have been checked out to public library patrons in a nine-county area since October 2007.

The Detroit Museum Adventure Pass (MAP) program will return for a fifth and final year in late May 2012. The new MAP will be an online programenabling patrons to access information about the program, to ask questions, to print tickets for free or discount admission to cultural attractions, and to get reading recommendations that relate to the venues’ exhibits.

Thank you for using the Detroit Museum Adventure Pass program, and we look forward to sharing our communities’ treasures again next summer!
