Volunteering
Volunteers at the Ypsilanti District Library provide an important service by assisting the library in its mission. “As a community resource, Ypsilanti District Library’s mission is to enrich life, stimulate intellectual curiosity, foster literacy, and encourage an informed citizenry.”
Anyone interested in assisting the Friends of the Ypsilanti District Library to raise funds to support the library may be drawn to helping sort donated books, work at the three-times a year book sale, or take a shift in the Friends Shop. Other adult volunteers may contact the Administrative Receptionist to learn more about helping with:
- Straightening book shelves and checking book order
- Keeping the library tidy by picking up trash around the building or dusting
- Greeting visitors on the Customer Service Desk and answering questions
- Assisting with materials processing or program preparation
- Other tasks as needed
We are looking for people willing to donate a few hours of their time on an ongoing basis. The library does not accept volunteers through any court-ordered program. By becoming a volunteer you help the library be a more effective service in the community.
