Amnesty Week and “Food for Fines” Program

Monday, April 4, 2011

In celebration of National Library Week, Sunday, April 10 through Saturday, April 16, 2011, the Ypsilanti District Library will have an Amnesty Week to encourage patrons to return their long overdue library items.

Any overdue item returned during Amnesty Week will not be charged an overdue fine.  This is a great time to look for all of those “misplaced” library items and get them back to the library.  Your overdue items may be returned to any YDL location.

Have an existing fine on your account?  The Ypsilanti District Library will host “Food for Fines.” YDL will forgive $1 in previously existing library fines for every nonperishable food item (no glass jars, please) you donate at the library, up to $20.00 per library account.   Food donations are welcome even if no fines are owed as all items collected will be given to a local food bank to help families struggling to make ends meet during these challenging times.

For more information, feel free to call 734-482-4110, ext. 1303.
